After returning from Italy this summer, I began dreaming about making cappuccinos and lattes at home. The price at Starbucks is really rather ridiculous. And besides, they don’t deliver! So I read all the reviews at Amazon, and decided on the DeLonghi EC155 based on a combination of its low-price and good reviews. I have [...]

This is a splurge purchase that I put off for a long time. But I finally realized that home cooking saves money, and not ruining an expensive piece of meat? That’s priceless! Ha ha ha. Anyway, I use this several times a week when roasting or rotisserie-ing something yummy for dinner. Hubby and I are [...]

Thanksgiving Recipes

by Barbara Feldman November 8, 2011

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, but since the kids left home, it has taken on an even bigger significance. Both my kids are coming home for Thanksgiving, and we are hosting 20+ family members for dinner. I am over-the-moon excited. Each year, I try to vary the menu, while keeping all [...]

Skip the Antidepressants, Just Bring on the Joe!

by Barbara Feldman September 27, 2011

Good news from the Harvard School of Public Health. Coffee-drinking women reduce their risk of depression with every cup. And women who drink four cups of caffeinated coffee a day, are 20% less likely to suffer from depression. Woo hoo!! Does this make my De’Longhi Espresso maker a deductible medical expense? Ha ha ha!! Playing Tourist in Seattle

by Barbara Feldman September 20, 2011

All those Seattleites who tell us Californians that it always rains in Seattle, are just pulling our (collective) legs! The weather this week has been beautiful. I am here for a (kinda secret) mastermind meeting with about thirty of the smartest people I know. Before the meetings started this afternoon, I walked down to the [...]

Sauteed baby bok choy is quick to make, and adds a tasty Asian flavor to any meal. And they are available at most grocery stores now a days. I have not provided any quantity information here, as this recipe is fairly straightforward, and you can make a single serving (as in the photo below) or [...]

Cranberry Sauce, Anyone?

by Barbara Feldman November 15, 2010

I take it as a great compliment that my grown son calls and asks for recipes from his childhood. This week, he made his first turkey dinner, a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, because he will be coming to my house for Thanksgiving (yea!!) I got the call when he was at the grocery store, [...]

This is for all of you, but especially Robyn, Carol, and Debbie.   It’s my recipe for Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad that I promised you.   Since I had to type it out anyway, instead of putting in an email to you, I decided to post it on my blog.  Isn’t that what bloggers do? Blackened Salmon [...]

Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon

by Barbara Feldman August 17, 2009

It was Sunday morning, and I was tempted to go to the beach with my girlfriends, but I couldn’t shake the idea of making Julia Child’s beef bourguignon. I had just finished her book “My Life in France” and the night before we saw “Julie & Julia.” On top of all this, I learned that [...]
