Dear Barbara,
I am a published author of short stories and poems. How likely is it that I will be able to find a new publishing house online? I am looking for a "real" publishing house, not some internet house on the verge of collapse. Any ideas?
Brian

Dear Brian,

The publishing biz still works the way it always has. You need to send a written (i.e. snail mail) query letter. Or better yet, get an agent.

To learn more about literary agents and why writers need them, try this:
http://www.writers.net/agents.html or this at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0871162016/surfinthenetwith/
