From Homeschool to Public High School

Dear Barbara: I enjoyed reading your newsletter and am wondering if you might be able to assist me in researching something.

We are in our eigth year of homeschooling. We're considering sending our oldest son to our local high school and I was looking for information or websites that deal with this topic of transitioning your homeschooled student to a traditional, public school.

May God bless you mightily this day and always,
Vicki

Dear Vicki,

When our son left private school for the public high school, it helped tremendously that he WANTED to make the move. Here are some homeschooling forums where you can ask other parents and experts:

It really helps if your child has a few friends before they get started in the school. Also, if he has a sense of his interests (school paper, soccer team, math club etc) so that he/she has a place to make friends and fit in
