June 19, 2003How to Make an eBook CoverHello Barbara, Thanks, Robert. I designed all my own book covers except "How to Add Games to Your Site" which was designed by Brian Terry of eBookWow. To create the others, I followed the free tutorial and used the free templates available at Cover Art Guide. This fabulous free tutorial teaches you how to use Compact Draw (a $28 try-before-you-buy download.) I highly recommend it. On the other hand, many gurus swear that information products with "ugly" book covers do much better. For example, take a look at these covers: Sherpa Store, 101 Public Relations, and Succeeding in Business. One day I will test my "pretty" How-to-Add-Games cover against an "ugly" one. How will I do the test? I am installing Split Hit to run a split-test run. I will let you know how it turns out. You should follow me on Twitter here. March 2, 2009 3:50 PM I prefer GIMP just because it's about as powerful as Photoshop, but it's free. (I use it for 3D covers as well as other web graphics like banners, ads, etc.) I always thought that an ugly cover would hurt your sales more than help it, though.
