Learn to Play Chess

Dear Barbara, Have you ever come across any instructions or booklets that will help young children learn to play the game of CHESS?? Thanks. Leo

Hi Leo,

My mother taught my son to play at about five. She says after the second game, he started winning, and she never won another game against him! He is now in college, but our living room is cluttered (in a good way) with lots of HUGE (four-feet tall) chess trophies. I don't know why the chess trophies are always so tall.

Anyway, here are some chess books and kits for kids.

I especially like: Kids' Book of Chess and Chess Set

And I have written about chess a few times:

Chess Websites

Cheers,
Barbara
