Summer is on my mind. The kids will go off in different directions for sleep-away camp, leaving my husband and I alone for nine whole days. I want to plan a road trip up the California coast for the two of us, but I'm usually not very good at getting around to plans like this. Everyone always makes their plans before I make mine --- and I end up learning just how popular whatever destination I'm interested in is!

I'm a librarian who just purchased these audio sets of road trips for my library. They're from Travelog. I checked their web site, Travelog.com, to see if they had any for California. It seems as if they do. They seem really neat. Their set comes with an audiotape AND a CD, plus road maps and written details. They're intended to just last a few hours, day trips. Travelog gives suggestions of places to stop.
Maybe you could try this, instead of having to plan hotels, etc.
I just planned my trip, and was so indecisive about when to go I almost got shut out of the place we wanted to stay. It's a nice little condo on the canal in Ocean City, MD. which didn't seem that perfect until I couldn't get the unit I wanted for that week.
Best wishes!
