Sauteed Baby Bok Choy

Sauteed baby bok choy is quick to make, and adds a tasty Asian flavor to any meal. And they are available at most grocery stores now a days. I have not provided any quantity information here, as this recipe is fairly straightforward, and you can make a single serving (as in the photo below) or enough to serve the hungry masses. Just keep in mind that when cooked, the bok choy loses a lot of volume, and a serving size is probably around 3 bok choy per person. In my neighborhood, I can buy baby bok choy at Costco! Woot!!

Sauteed Baby Bok Choy


  1. baby bok choy
  2. olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  3. sesame oil
  4. low-sodium soy sauce
  5. minced garlic (optional)


  1. Slice the bok choy lengthwise
  2. Rinse
  3. Heat oilve oil in pan (optional, add minced garlic)
  4. Saute the bok choy face down, so the inside half gets caramelized
  5. Add a dash of sesame oil (this gives a nice Asian taste, but sesame oil doesn’t heat well) along with a small splash of soy sauce.
  6. Let the bok choy steam for a minute or two until done
