Surgery is Scheduled

Because I am having a hysterectomy on Tuesday, I am taking a few weeks off. I've been pursuing alternatives for a year, and now, for me, this is the best decision.

I also debated endlessly (with myself) about how much I wanted to share and when I wanted to share it. Should I just say I am taking time off for personal reasons? Or what about calling it a surgery, and leaving it at that? But there it is. I blurted it out. Sorry if this is "too much information." I certainly did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Sigh.

Because I am working ahead, I expect that you will continue to receive regular newsletters from me ... and that in two or three weeks I'll be back in my computer chair, and feeling much better.

Friends do let their friends know what's happening in their lives - so it seems very appropriate to tell your web friends of your hysterectomy. I wish you a speedy recovery. Relax, read a lot and enjoy some needed attention! I enjoy your site and will be happy to have you return in good health with lots of new energy!

I hope you are recovering quickly and managing to use your recovery time to treat yourself.

It is good when ever anyone is open about medical issues that in the past people have felt wern't 'nice' to talk about - there would be no issue if it were, for example, knee surgery. Yet the old embaressments have led to people delaying or even not getting help which could have eased suffering or even saved lives. So - good on you for being open. Just think it might help someone to get help they have previously felt too awkward to mention.

Having my hysterectomy turned out to be one of the happiest days of my life. I have never looked back and I am away from the stress and discomfort. I know you will do just fine, but you will be in the prayers of many of us just the same. Best wishes for a speedy recovery...take your time getting well!

I will be praying for you that the operation is a success. Never forget to say your prayers for what ever comes your way in life, good or bad. Remember before your surgery say a prayer or have someone say one with you before you have your operation and God will hear your prayers. Remember God gave us free will. God Bless.

Good luck on your hysterectomy. Today happens to be my Cenacle day (I get together with a small group made up of my two sisters and a real good friend) and we pray for everyone's intentions. We'll be praying for you as well!

I had a hysterectomy almost 2 yrs ago. It was the best decision I made. Do get alot of rest. my prayers are with you for a speedy recovery and with no complications. As a mother of five I really do enjoy your news letters. Best of luck to you.

If you find sitting tiring find a chair, like an adjustable lawn chair, that does not keep your middle at a right angle. A pillow under your knees makes sleeping easier. Good Luck!

Barbara: My surgery was a few years back. Can I suggest a helpful community on-line? HysterSisters at http://www.hystersisters.com/ is upbeat and helpful, has great information, and an on-line community. I loved their book and their Princess Pak for pampering you like a Princess.

You will not be sorry (the voice of experience speaking). Do exactly as the medical team tells you during recovery and all will go well.
