The Groan

Anyone with teenagers is familiar with "the groan," that unique guterral airy sound uttered by teenagers whenever their parents say or do something they think is completely ridiculous. I get it a lot. If you don't I suspect it's either because you don't have teenagers or you are not talking to them enough.

This morning's groan was about a book I am currently listening to "on tape." (I put that in quotes, because in my case it's not actually tape, but rather an MP3 file playing on my iPod.) So what "groan worthy" book am I listening to these days? The New Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz, edited by Dan S. Kennedy. Put it on your must read list, and on that of your teen.

With all the pressure put on our high-school students to perform well "to get into the right college," the skills taught in this classic book could be invaluable. If you can get your teen to read it, please let me know how you did it!
