W00t Wins aWard!

W00t? What? A word spelled with two zeros wins the 2007 Merriam-Webster Word of the Year?

The honor does NOT mean that the word will be included in their regular dictionary, but it will proudly display its prize in the online Open Dictionary.

According to their definition: "w00t" is an injection expressing joy, or meaning "yay!"

"W00t" first became popular in online gaming forums and is known to be an acronym for "we owned the other team." The zeros (in lieu of double ohs) are a nod of the hat to l33t ("leet" ) speak— a computer hacker language in which numbers and symbols are put together to look like letters.

Now you're in know. Do you feel hip yet? Or just terribly old?
