I returned home Sunday, the fourth of July, my personal independence day. I believe I owe my amazing recovery to the support of my loved ones (the best friends and family a girl could ask for) and a guided imagery audio course titled "Successful Surgery" by Belleruth Naparstek.

I listened to the guided imagery audio several times before my surgery, and it helped me focus on a positive result, and the support of everyone who wished me well.

I don't think I can possibly describe it very well, but Ms. Naparstek says that double-blind studies have shown guided imagery to have a positive impact on surgery results. I consider myself proof-positive that it helps.

But life is full of surprises, not all of them good. Next week I'll fill you in on ... the rest of the story.
