Which WordPress Theme Do I Recommend?

by on February 22, 2011

Are you a WordPress fan? I am. Over the last twelve months, I have built more than forty sites with WordPress (including this one.) Along the way, I learned a lot about getting things done with WordPress. A few days ago a friend asked me which premium WordPress theme/framework I recommended, and I decided to publish my answer here, in case anyone else finds it useful.

Drumroll please, the answer is: Thesis! I don’t think I would have made the big jump from Movable Type to WordPress without it.

1) Thesis gives me the control that native WordPress lacks.

2) By putting all my custom tweaks in custom_functions.php, I am still able to do one-button WP upgrades, because I haven’t modified any WordPress files.

3) Thesis is very well supported, and has a great user community.

4) There is plenty of Thesis talent for me to hire when I need it.

5) I can put together good-looking sites without a graphic designer, because Thesis just looks good, no matter what I do to it.

Yup, I’m a raving fan with more than thirty Thesis sites now.
