The usual horseshoe travel pillow looks like it will help you sleep on an airplane, but I’ve never been happy with them. I’ve tried blow up pillows, foam pillows, and feather-soft pillows. I keep buying them, and I keep hating them! The basic problem they all share is that the back of the pillow pushes my head and neck forward into a really uncomfortable position.
Before my recent trip to central Europe, I was determined to try one last time. I scoured Amazon and read dozens of reviews, and decided to try the Travelrest Ultimate Memory Foam Pillow. This pillow has a flattened back that seemed like it would solve my primary neck problem. It also has really tall sides to keep my head from flopping onto my neighbor’s shoulder. The moment it arrived and I tried it out, I was pretty excited. But I refrained from writing a review until I put it through 20 hours of flight in an economy seat.
And … (drumroll, please) … I love it! The Travelrest was supremely comfortable, and I was able to roll it back up into the little travel bag, so I didn’t have to carry it as a separate item. The travel sack fits into my usual travel backpack quite easily!
